Toboggan! Retraite de leadership! Leadership retreat!

How do I register?

We have extended the registration period! Registration of participants to the leadership retreat now ends on March 12th, 2009, and there is a limited number of participant spots. You must be at least 14 years old and no more than 25 years old to participate to the retreat. We encourage you to register no matter to what genders, cultural communities, or sexual orientations you identify – the retreat’s content will reflect this diversity – but you will not have to reveal this information in your application.

We can write a letter to justify your absence with your school if you need it. This letter will not mention the queer aspect of Toboggan unless you ask us to include it in the letter, and we will be very careful not to disclose anything about your sexual orientation or your gender identity in this letter.

To register, download and print the registration form. You must give it back to us or mail it along with the reservation deposit (see below – don’t mail cash!). One of your parents or your legal guardian must fill the parental consent section of the form if you are under 18 years old. Registration papers do not mention that this is a retreat for youth of all sexual orientations and gender identities, so you don’t have to worry if your parents are not comfortable with this aspect of the retreat. The address for the Toboggan website is not listed in the documents either.

You must read the code of conduct for the retreat, and you must commit to respecting it.

We ask for a 30$ deposit when you register to reserve your spot on the retreat (if you don’t have money for the deposit, we don’t want this to prevent you from attending the retreat; contact us, and we will come up with an arrangement). We will fully reimburse to you this deposit at the end of the retreat if you attend the retreat, or if you cancel your registration by March 12th, 2009, at the latest. We will not reimburse this deposit if you cancel your registration after March 12th, 2009, or if you don’t attend the retreat. There is no other monetary cost to participating to the retreat besides this refundable deposit. The deposit must be included with the registration form, and all cheques must be payable to Project 10.

We organize transportation from Montreal to Camp Kinkora (where the retreat will be held) and back, at no cost for participating youth. If you are from another Quebec region than the Montreal island, we can cover the travel cost from your hometown to Montreal and back.

Food and lodging are included with the retreat and are free. We accommodate dietary restrictions, including food allergies, religious dietary rules, vegetarianism, and veganism. We ask, however, that you bring a lunch-time meal for the first day, since we will arrive at Camp Kinkora around noon, and we won’t have time to prepare that meal there.

There are some items that you will have to provide and bring with you to camp (among other things, a sleeping bag or blanket for the bed). We will forward you a copy of the detailed list when we confirm your registration.
