Attending a leadership retreat means spending a few days in a quiet place with other youth, participating in activities to:
- get to know the other people who attend the retreat better;
- explore who you are, and build confidence in your abilities;
- discuss issues that affect communities to which you – and other youth – identify;
- think about what you can do to take your place and improve things around you;
- learn skills that will help you put together projects that are important to you.
The word “leadership” can scare people. Most of us don’t see ourselves as leaders. It’s okay – don’t let that keep you from participating to this retreat. Youth decide to attend a leadership retreat for all sorts of reasons:
- to make new friends with similar interests;
- to learn about their communities and what’s happening within them;
- to nurture their passions, energy, and motivation to change things;
- to develop new skills.
This could be an unforgettable experience for you!
